TASK
Situated in Zurich's former industrial neighborhood, the site is bounded by the Heinrich, Wilhelm, Schütze, and Limmat streets. Since actual manufacturing has left the area, newer architecture has resulted in a mix of old and new. The object of the studio was to design a cafeteria/lunchroom with a large hall and an open-air restaurant, as well as an open-air show area. The project was therefore to produce a selection of differently themed restaurants assembled under one roof, with a bar serving the outdoor area is.

DESIGNER'S WORD
Inspired by Tanizaki Jun'Ichiro's “In Praise of Shadows”, this project explores subjects such as void, light/shadow, scorched-wood treatments and structure. A cantine on a lot of land with an intense atmosphere in the centre of Zurich.
